FRIENDS OF SCOUTING (FOS)

Post date: Feb 13, 2015 10:25:29 PM

Dear Parents of Cub Scout Pack 928,

I am writing to ask you to please consider participating in Pack 928’s Friends of Scouting (FOS) campaign.

Friends of Scouting is used by local council to raise the funds needed to support our Units, our leaders and our Scouts. While much of this work isn’t visible, it includes the Klondike Derby, the Regional Pinewood Derby, formation of new units and extensive training for adult leaders.

None of our Membership dues go to support the local district – they are used within our Units and the balance goes to the National Scouting organization. Friends of Scouting contributions stay local and supports our Scouts.

If you are debating the right amount to donate, please keep in mind that the overhead for the Potomac district costs about $200 a Scout. As we are after 100% participation, even a small contribution would be appreciated.

A district representative will be attending your Pack’s Blue & Gold Banquet to be held on Monday, February 16th (President’s Day) to distribute pledge cards that you can use to make a contribution, which you can also pay in monthly or quarterly installments, or ask to be billed later. IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE A CONTRIBUTION, no matter how small, please complete and submit a signed card without a contribution.

To give online please visit, www.boyscouts-ncac.org, click the red “Donate” button and scroll down to verify that the “Friends of Scouting” campaign/fund has been selected. From here you can make a pledge or a contribution with a credit card. However, when pledging online, it is IMPORTANT to designate “Pack 928” as the Organization and “Potomac” for your District.

Please check out our short Friends of Scouting video from our new District Chairman, Jim Schleckser.
