Fall Bike Ride * When: Nov. 4 at 1 pm (raindate Nov. 11) * What to bring: water bottle, small first aid kit, clothing appropriate for the weather, a bike helmet, and a bike in good working order; uniforms are not needed. * We'll begin at Carderock, ride to Swain's Lock, then turn around and head back. * Information on Carderock can be found here: https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/carderock-recreational-area/ * Information on Swain's Lock can be found here: https://www.canaltrust.org/pyv/lock-21-swains-lock/ * The route is about 6.4 miles each way. Use your judgement on whether your child is ready for this trip. Age is less of a factor than ability to ride for several miles. A good gauge is if your child is able to ride for 3-4 miles, they will likely be able to complete this trip with a fuller effort. We will ride only as fast as the slowest rider and will take breaks as needed. Scouting for Food Distribution When: Nov. 3 at 9 am * Webelos and AOLs will meet at Beall Elem.* Tigers, Wolves, and Bears will meet at the New Mark clubhouse * Scouts should be in full uniform (shirt, neckerchief, slide, and hat * There are no bags this year. Instead, there are sticky notes similar to a Post-It note that we will stick to front doors. * The pack will provide donuts and hot chocolate at the starting point for both neighborhoods. Scouting for Food Pick Up When: Nov. 10 at 9 am * Webs and AOLs will meet at Beall Elem. * Tigers, wolves, and Bears will meet at the New Mark clubhouse * Scouts should be in full uniform (shirt, neckerchief, slide, and hat * We will need parents to drive the food collected back to the meeting site so we can coordinate delivery of collected goods back to RUMC* The pack will provide donuts and hot chocolate at the starting point for both neighborhoods. Raingutter Regatta * When: Monday Nov. 19 at 7 pm * Free dress from the neck up - feel free to wear pirate eye patches, bandanas or pirate hats, or whatever other nautical-themed items you choose! * More specific info on rules for the Regatta will be included in a separate email. * If you have not received a boat kit from your den leader yet, please contact them ASAP. The boats are not difficult to make, but they do take a bit of time (an hour or two is plenty, plus time for paint to dry) |
